“I am part of the Crossfit community because they have defined fitness, challenged it, and continue to mould the program that I teach today. Oh, and it produces far and away the best fitness results on the planet!”

A little about me and why Crossfit is my passion … I didn’t begin my quest for knowledge in the fitness world to pursue a career, I did it because it’s what I love to do! As I began to age, the sports I did so effortlessly, began to require a little more training. A couple of rehabs later I understood the importance of health, and pre-hab (What I refer to as being healthy to prevent re-hab!). I was extremely fortunate to stumble upon the first CrossFit Affiliate in Seattle back in 2005, way before anyone knew what CrossFit was. And their team gladly took me in, and let me gain as much knowledge as I could from an unbelievable staff.

From the moment I participated in my first Crossfit workout, I knew my life would take a new direction, and boy has it ever.  From my first class back in '05, to CrossFit Affiliation a year and a half later in 2006, to a proud affiliate owner since 2008. I am proudly a part of the Crossfit community. They have defined fitness, challenged it, and continue to mould the program that I teach today. It not only helped me achieve all of my previously escaping fitness goals, it’s answering goals I never would have fathomed possible!

I have watched individuals with poor health become healthy, average people become athletic, athletes become elite athletes, elite athletes push the level of their sports. More importantly, I have seen people achieve goals, conquer chronic pain and injuries, gain confidence, and believe in themselves in ways they never thought possible. I can say all of this, because I am one of those people. I have studied the movements and methodology, and I would love to show you what I’ve learned.

My passions in life are being active- sports that include snowboarding, skiing, hockey, racquet sports, biking, hiking, olympic weightlifting, trying new sports, and not be left out- CROSSFIT.

Lula darquier

Lula was part of the last group of foundations in our Creekside location back in November of 2012. For those keeping track, over 5 years ago! When she walked in the door, her motivation was to improve her fitness to help her mountain biking career. Since then, it's evolved, and you can see that Lula loves to train, loves to put in the work, which is obvious to those around her.

Before CrossFit, and before mountain biking, Lula was a ski coach with a background in ski racing. She has an eye for detail, so don't think for a moment you'll sneak anything past her. (I know, I've been busted many times before!) She recently passes her level 1 coaches certificate for CrossFit, and is ready to start coaching classes on her own.

Her 5 years of training with us packed more than enough evidence that Lula would be a great addition to our team of coaches. I am happy that she decided to join us, and am looking forward to what's to come!

Lewis stockton

I started doing CrossFit in 2017 after I had finished playing rugby at university. I enjoyed rugby a lot and poured everything I had into it, and so when I stopped playing there was a big hole left in my life. I had continued to run track but that just wasn’t enough. But CrossFit came along and really filled that giant hole that rugby had left. I just loved working hard with a community of like-minded people and seeing how CrossFit had changed so many people’s lives for the better, including my own.

I’d done a lot of S&C coaching for the sports teams whilst at University, and so decided that I would love to start coaching CrossFit and helping people reach their goals! I took my level 1 and not long after decided to move to Canada to pursue CrossFit further.

I feel lucky to be a part of the Opus Athletics community! Never did I imagine that I would get to coach CrossFit in a place like Whistler, it really is a dream to able to come to work everyday. I love helping this community reach their goals and have fun whilst doing so. Opus has really made my life better, and I appreciate how welcoming everyone has been, and am so excited to be part of this wonderful community.

elle clemens

Hi! I started CrossFit in my teens and totally fell in love with it - the training, the workouts and the community. Participating in and coaching CrossFit has taken me around the world and I’m so excited to be able to share my experiences and learn from you all in Whistler.

My background is originally in gymnastics, I was a gymnast for 17 years growing up! When I switched to CrossFit I jumped straight into competing - individually, as a teen and in teams (often with my sister). While at uni I specialised in weightlifting, training towards the target of becoming national champion in my age group which I achieved in 2021. These days I put less pressure on my training and I use CrossFit to maintain my fitness and stay strong so I can enjoy being active outside - Whistler is the perfect playground for getting more involved in climbing, biking and skiing! While my goals have changed over the years, what has stayed consistent is my passion for CrossFit as both a methodology and training tool.

I have been coaching various sports for over 10 years - starting out in gymnastics, then CrossFit, weightlifting and most recently mountain biking. I love that I get to help people get better every day and have fun doing it. I’m looking forward to meeting and training with you all at the gym!

Amanda is THE BOSS- if you know what I mean;)  She’s what keeps the engine running clean and moving forward.

Amanda grew up in the UK as an avid Football player and Cross Country and Track Runner. Her passion grew from running to snowsports, and that is how she landed in Whistler. Participating in the Pro-Ride Snowboard camps led her to move from the Salon’s of Kensington Church Street to the powder on Whistler Blackcomb. Now she not only runs her own home business cutting hair, but also finds time to manage the gym and be a full time Mom.
